What is a zine?
A zine is a fan-made collection of work by various fan creators, following a central theme or concept. Zine contents can range across a variety of creative mediums. Most physically produced zines are printed in limited, short-run productions and available only during a specific time.


What is the theme of this zine?
[CON,DI]VERGE is an unofficial Tarot zine project celebrating the show and the journey to self-discovery we are all on. It will feature a 22 card Major Arcana deck and accompanying guidebook with stories that compliment Danny's Journey.


What is Tarot?
Tarot is the cartomantic art of divination using a deck of cards to give spiritual or divine guidance. Tarot is made up of the Querent who asks the question of the cards and the Reader who interprets them; many times these may be the same person.The most famous Tarot deck is the Rider-Waite Smith (RWS) deck created in 1910, which combined Numerology, Astrology, and Abrahamic, Greek, and Egyptian mythology in an effort to create a single, comprehensive, divination and spiritual tool. The majority of modern Tarot decks are based on the RWS deck.


How many cards will there be?
This zine will consist of 22 cards featuring the Major Arcana, plus 2 additional thematic cards: The Human & The Ghost.


Will we get to choose which cards we create for?
Applicants will select which cards they feel comfortable creating for during the application process. Mods will assign applicants to specific cards based on application preferences. Please note that characters have been pre-assigned to cards in order to build a cohesive storyline across the deck; creators will be asked to adhere to the pre-assigned character matches for the cards they have been assigned.You can view our Card Pairing Document for more information on each card!


Who can contribute?
Anyone at least 18 years or older at the time of application is welcome to apply!


Is there an age limit for contributors?
You must be at least 18 years or older at the time of application; no exceptions.


How many contributors will be accepted?
Acceptance numbers will be determined by our interest check as well as the number of applications we receive.


Can I apply for multiple roles?
Applicants may apply for multiple roles. Applicants will only be accepted for one position, but please apply to ALL positions you are interested in. Applicants will not be considered for roles they do not apply for.


What is a pinch-hitter?
A pinch-hitter is a participant who is on standby in the event a contributor cannot finish a piece. The pinch-hitter then provides a replacement piece.


How will contributors be compensated?
All contributors will be guaranteed a full digital bundle and the ability to purchase any physical items at production cost.Pending adequate sales during pre-orders, we hope to compensate for shipping or the cost of items entirely—we aim to cover a full bundle for each contributor.Profits not spent on item compensation will be donated to a charity of our contributors’ choice or paid out in equal shares to each team member, depending on whether the project is for-charity or for-profit. This will be determined per IC results, as noted below. A full breakdown of compensation tiers will be available upon acceptance to the project.


Will this zine be physical or digital?
This zine will be physical, pending the results of the Interest Check!


Will this zine by for-profit or for-charity?
This project will be for-charity! Our charity of choice will be decided upon by our contributors once onboarding is complete.

What is the rating of the zine?
This zine is rated T. Pieces may include canon-typical levels of violence, mild body horror, non-graphic descriptions of injuries, suggestive themes, crude humour, minimal blood, infrequent use of strong language, and platonic level displays of affection.


Are there restrictions on what I can make for the zine?
We will not be accepting or featuring any fully explicit content. This means no sex scenes in stories and all artwork will require covered genitals. For artists, you may choose to show tasteful nudity without genitals through cropping, blurs/misting (as often seen in manga), or scenery censoring (drapery, limbs, branches, etc).Violence, blood, and gore will all be limited.


Will ships be allowed?
This is a gen zine project. While platonic and queer platonic relationships have no restrictions, we request that romantic relationships are only portrayed in The Lovers card (Johnny 13 & Kitty).


Can I include ships in my application samples or portfolio?
Contributors are welcome to apply with any ships!


Can I use personal headcanons in my piece?
This zine is canon-focused. While generally accepted headcanons (such as Danny exhibiting ghost features in his human form), character headcanons (such as Tucker’s PDA being an emotional support device), or other minor headcanons are perfectly fine to include, we are unable to accommodate canon-altering headcanons within our project. If you aren’t sure if your concept is allowed, you are welcome to ask a mod during the pitching process!


Why would someone be kicked from the zine?
Any contributor who fails to submit (2) check-ins without notifying the mod team, or does not meet allocated extension deadlines may be subject to removal from the zine.Any contributors engaging in harmful behaviour may be removed from the project at any time. Harmful behaviour includes but is not limited to: plagiarism (tracing, heavy referencing, etc), harassment, racism, sexism, ableism, ageism, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, usage of slurs, or using other hateful rhetoric. This includes behaviour both within and outside of the Discord server. This project stands with Palestine.Any contributor found to engage in Generative AI or blockchain technology will be removed from the project.
